Agility Robotics to Debut on Nasdaq as First US Humanoid Robot Firm
Agility Robotics is set to list on the Nasdaq exchange following a merger, securing significant backing from investors like Foxconn and Nvidia to scale its industrial humanoid robots.
Oregon-based Agility Robotics is set to become the first U.S. company dedicated to humanoid robotics to list on the Nasdaq, trading under the ticker 'AGLT'. The listing follows a merger with special purpose acquisition company Churchill Capital Corp. XI, providing the company with roughly $465 million in capital. Key investors in the firm include Foxconn, Nvidia, Amazon, and Softbank.
At the center of the company’s expansion is the Digit 5 robot, designed to assist with labor-intensive tasks in warehousing and manufacturing. CEO Peggy Johnson stated that the robots are intended to fill critical labor gaps as the company targets a customer base of 100 by the end of 2027. The company is currently testing its technology with partners such as GXO Logistics and AGCO.
While the industry holds potential, humanoid robotics faces hurdles regarding operational safety and predictability in human-centric environments. Johnson emphasized that the company’s performance will be measured against standard automation metrics like throughput and reliability. As the first of its kind to go public, Agility Robotics will serve as a bellwether for the nascent industry's ability to transition from controlled pilots to consistent, revenue-generating commercial operations.
