Agoda's Rocket Travel Identifies New Distribution Channels Shaping Travel
Agoda's VANTAGE ’26 partner summit highlighted how social media and other non-traditional channels are shaping travel discovery and distribution, with an increasing number of touchpoints influencing traveler decisions.

Rocket Travel by Agoda, the strategic partnerships arm of the online travel agency, has highlighted a significant shift in travel distribution channels, moving beyond traditional booking sites. At its inaugural partner summit, VANTAGE ’26, the company presented insights indicating that demand discovery is increasingly influenced by a diverse mix of sources, including financial institutions, loyalty programs, social platforms, and emerging AI interfaces.
The summit emphasized the growing role of social media in destination discovery, with data suggesting a substantial percentage of travelers are influenced by these platforms when choosing where to go. The rise of social commerce, exemplified by features like TikTok Go, further blurs the lines between discovery and transaction, leading to more fragmented and non-linear customer journeys.
"Travel distribution is no longer defined by a single entry point. What we are seeing is a bigger mix of channels shaping how travelers discover, consider and act," said Damien Pfirsch, Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Rocket Travel by Agoda. "This makes it increasingly important to show up where demand is being shaped, while making sure the experience remains relevant, localized and easy to complete."
For industry partners, this necessitates a strategic rethink of distribution, moving beyond traditional conversion funnels. The focus must shift to understanding where demand is being generated and how to facilitate a seamless transition from inspiration to action across these diverse digital touchpoints.
The importance of localization and personalization in converting this demand was also a key theme. Agoda noted that incorporating relevant local payment methods can significantly boost revenue and conversion rates, underscoring how the payment experience is becoming a critical factor in distribution performance as customer journeys diversify.
