Ahlstrom and Hamilton Partner on Automated Dried Blood Spot Sample Processing
Ahlstrom and Hamilton AG are collaborating to advance next-generation laboratory automation for Dried Blood Spot (DBS) sample processing.

Ahlstrom, a global supplier of fiber-based specialty materials, and Hamilton AG have entered into a collaboration to develop advanced automation for Dried Blood Spot (DBS) sample processing.
The partnership will integrate Ahlstrom’s specimen collection solutions with Hamilton's easyPunch STAR platform. The companies aim to position DBS cards as a practical, high-performance alternative to traditional liquid blood sampling methods.
Key objectives include increasing laboratory automation, beginning with the punching of samples, and ensuring comprehensive sample traceability from collection to final analysis. This initiative is expected to streamline diagnostic and research workflows.
This collaboration seeks to enhance the efficiency and reliability of DBS sample handling in clinical and research settings.
