AI Agents in Use in GRC, but Full Autonomy Not Yet Achieved
AI agents are now in production for compliance work within the GRC sector, according to a new report from Wheelhouse Advisors. However, full autonomy has not yet been reached.

AI agents are currently in production performing compliance work within the Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) sector, but full autonomy has not yet been achieved, according to a new report by Wheelhouse Advisors.
The "2026–2027 IRM Navigator Vendor Compass for GRC" evaluates 33 technology and service providers in the GRC segment, which is forecast to grow from $17.2 billion in 2026 to $35.8 billion by 2033. The report indicates that AI agents are already in production at companies, carrying out various compliance tasks.
While AI solutions have advanced significantly, they are not yet capable of operating completely independently in complex GRC processes. Businesses still need to guide and monitor AI functions to ensure compliance and risk management.
The GRC market is projected for substantial growth in the coming years, presenting opportunities for both AI technologies and established GRC service providers. The report aims to assist companies in navigating this evolving landscape and selecting appropriate solutions.
