AI app maker Wabi pivots to messaging experience
AI startup Wabi, known for its prompt-based app builder, is repositioning as a personal AI agent offering a messaging experience. The new iteration combines chat, app creation, and task management.

AI startup Wabi, which previously enabled users to build applications using text prompts, is shifting its focus towards becoming a personal AI agent that provides a messaging experience. This strategic pivot aims to capitalize on the growing demand for AI agents.
The revamped platform, dubbed Wabi 2.0, is designed as a personal agent capable of performing tasks and creating necessary interfaces on the fly. This move aligns with the broader trend of increasing popularity for AI agents, such as Meta's Muse and Instinct.
Eugenia Kuyda, founder of Wabi and former founder of Replika, describes Wabi 2.0 as a messenger that can also create apps. The platform aims to serve as the operating system for an agentic era, where software adapts to users' lives and streamlines task completion.
Initially, Wabi 2.0 will be available through an invite-only system. The company intends to offer a solution that seamlessly integrates communication, app utilization, and ongoing tasks, ultimately freeing up user time for more important activities.
