AI Coding Startup Replit Ends Work with Anthropic
US-based AI coding platform Replit has ceased collaboration with Anthropic. CEO Amjad Masad cited cost, performance, and Replit's partnership with OpenAI as reasons for the decision.

Replit, a US-based cloud software development platform, has officially ended its collaboration with AI company Anthropic. CEO Amjad Masad stated that the decision was driven by rising costs, performance issues, and Replit's deepened partnership with OpenAI.
Masad indicated that OpenAI's models outperformed Anthropic's in Replit's internal benchmarks for building applications from scratch. This shift aligns with Replit's strategy to leverage OpenAI's technology to enhance accessibility in software creation.
The termination of the partnership with Anthropic, whose Claude models Replit had previously integrated and promoted, may impact the platform's offerings. Enterprise contracts currently account for approximately 15% of Replit's revenue, with business-to-business sales contributing over half of the company's income.
Replit has been expanding its enterprise solutions, launching a self-serve enterprise offering in May 2026. This move underscores the company's focus on commercial clients and scalability within the competitive AI development landscape.
