AI Company Founder Unconcerned by Anthropic's Market Entry
Hardy Michel, co-founder of Marloo, believes large AI companies like Anthropic pose no threat to specialized startups. He emphasizes the value of deep customer understanding and tailored solutions.

Hardy Michel, co-founder of Marloo, an AI company serving financial advisors, has expressed a lack of concern regarding the market ambitions of large artificial intelligence firm Anthropic. Anthropic recently presented its AI model, Claude, at the Future Proof event in the US, a conference attended by Michel.
Michel argues that while large language models developed by major players like Anthropic are technologically advanced, they lack the specific focus and deep customer understanding that specialized startups can offer. His company, Marloo, develops AI solutions tailored for financial advisors, a niche he believes is underserved by broader AI platforms.
He drew a distinction between the conversational capabilities of large AI models and the nuanced, relationship-driven services provided by human advisors. Michel stated that these large models, while capable of generating text, cannot replicate the specialized knowledge and trust-building essential in fields like financial advice.
Despite acknowledging that large AI firms compete for market share, Michel remains confident in the strategy of smaller, focused companies. He asserted that Marloo will not directly compete with giants like Anthropic but will instead leverage its expertise in specific client needs to maintain its competitive edge.
Michel concluded that while Anthropic's approach is "complex and challenging," his company's focus on delivering unique value through deep client understanding ensures its continued relevance in the evolving AI landscape.
