AI Firm Anthropic Targets Mid-November IPO After Delay

AI startup Anthropic, the developer behind the Claude chatbot, is targeting an initial public offering (IPO) as soon as mid-November, after previously delaying its listing plans. People familiar with the matter indicated that the company may begin marketing the share sale to investors during the week of November 9 and could start trading before Thanksgiving.

The company still aims to complete its listing by the end of the year, though this schedule remains subject to change. Anthropic was valued at $61.5 billion in a March funding round and counts Amazon and Google among its backers.

Financial disclosures show Anthropic reported a net loss of nearly $42 billion for 2025 on revenue of approximately $4.6 billion. However, the majority of this loss stemmed from changes in the fair value of liabilities, rather than its core operations.

Anthropic has published a Responsible Scaling Policy outlining conditions for slowing or pausing the development of more powerful AI on safety grounds. This highlights the scrutiny faced by companies developing frontier AI models as they approach public markets.
