AI generates acne prescriptions in Utah pilot program

Healthcare startup Nolla Health has introduced a new service in Utah that utilizes artificial intelligence to issue prescriptions for acne treatment. Users can scan their faces using the company's app, allowing the AI to analyze acne severity and autonomously write a prescription. The initiative was first reported by Bloomberg.

The service is operating as a pilot program with a phased approach to physician oversight. For the initial 100 patients, two physicians will review and approve each AI-generated prescription before it is issued. This oversight will transition to post-prescription review for up to 500 patients.

Following the initial phase, physicians will review a sample of at least 10% of the prescriptions generated by the AI. Nolla Health aims to expand its AI-driven healthcare services to other states across the U.S.
