AI hardware stocks rebound as semiconductor index gains 6.5%
AI hardware firms saw a sharp recovery on the US stock market Wednesday, driving the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index up by 6.57%.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 6.57% on Wednesday, reversing losses from the previous trading session. Notable gains were reported across the sector, with AMD shares increasing by 13.2%, Micron Technology rising 9.07%, and Marvell Technology advancing 9.46%.
Major players also tracked the recovery, as Nvidia shares climbed 6.44% and TSMC shares rose 7.55%. Other semiconductor firms, including SanDisk and Lumentum, recorded gains exceeding 9%, reflecting a broad-based renewed investor appetite for AI-linked infrastructure.
This rebound follows a sharp downturn on Thursday, when the Nasdaq Composite dropped 5.5%—its largest single-day decline since April 2025—plunging into a technical correction. The recent volatility highlights the sensitivity of hardware producers to shifting investor sentiment regarding the longevity of the AI expansion cycle.
