AI Lab Prentis, Co-Founded by Reid Hoffman and Mark Pincus, in Talks for $100 Million Funding

Prentis, a new AI research lab co-founded by serial entrepreneur Ritankar Das and tech veterans Reid Hoffman and Mark Pincus, is reportedly in talks to secure $100 million in funding at a $1 billion valuation. Launched in April, the company is training AI models to understand how office workers navigate routine workflows across documents and systems.

The goal is to develop AI agents capable of controlling computers to automate these tasks. Prentis anticipates that automating routine computer interactions will soon become a larger use case for AI than coding itself. The lab plans to build tailored agents for clients, such as those handling insurance claims or automating exceptions for customs duty refunds without requiring human intervention.

The startup has already secured contracts worth up to $50 million with several clients, including a healthcare management services organization and various manufacturing firms. Internal projections suggest an annualized run rate of $75 million by the end of the third quarter.

Prentis enters a competitive market for AI-driven automation. The founders' prominent backgrounds and early customer commitments position the company for potential growth in the AI sector.
