AI Startup TypeSafe Raises $870M Led by Andreessen Horowitz

TypeSafe, a US startup developing AI models for automation, has raised $870 million at a valuation of $7.5 billion. The significant funding round was led by Andreessen Horowitz and included participation from Sequoia and existing investor DCVC.

The funding follows the September 2026 release of the company's Jev model. TypeSafe previously emerged from stealth in 2026, securing $40 million in a seed round. The company was founded in 2024 by former OpenAI researcher Diogo Almeida, former Meta research engineer Sasha Sheng, and engineer Erik Gafni.

TypeSafe states that one-third of Fortune 500 companies are already using its Jev model. The company distinguishes Jev from large language models, noting its use of a transformer architecture to output probabilities rather than text, designed for automation with fewer tokens.

This substantial investment underscores the continued investor appetite for AI companies focused on practical applications and automation, even amidst broader economic considerations. TypeSafe's technology aims to address automation needs through a specialized AI model.
