AI Tool Assesses Breast Cancer Risk From Mammogram Images
A new AI-powered tool that assesses a woman's five-year risk of breast cancer using existing mammogram images is now available nationwide in the U.S.

Clairity Breast, an AI-powered tool designed to assess a woman's five-year risk of breast cancer, has received FDA authorization and is now available nationwide in the United States. The tool, developed by Clairity and distributed through a partnership with digital health company Everlywell, analyzes standard mammogram images.
The system was trained on hundreds of thousands of mammograms and global health outcome data. It identifies patterns in breast tissue correlated with future cancer development. Clairity Breast is not a diagnostic tool but provides a percentage probability of a breast cancer diagnosis within five years.
The risk scores are categorized: below 1.7 percent indicates average risk, 1.7 to 3 percent indicates intermediate risk, and over 3 percent indicates high risk. The company states the tool is intended to augment clinical decision-making, not replace it.
Dr. Connie Lehman, founder and CEO of Clairity, noted that women identified with higher risk can be directed to different care pathways. This may include preventative treatments such as low-dose tamoxifen, which has been shown to reduce the risk of certain breast cancers by up to 50 percent in some women.
