Danger reports that tasks previously taking hours are now completed in minutes, attributing this to AI integration.

Statistical data reveals a downward trend in administrative employment. In 2004, approximately 3.5 million individuals, predominantly women, held these positions. By 2024, this number had decreased to 2.1 million, despite overall workforce growth. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts continued decline, with exceptions for roles within the growing healthcare sector.

While technological advancements like speech-to-text and scheduling software have previously impacted the profession, AI presents new challenges and opportunities. Experts note that AI cannot replicate the emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills crucial for executive assistants. However, the ability to leverage these tools is becoming increasingly valued by employers.

Training providers are witnessing a surge in demand for AI-focused courses for administrative professionals. Fiona Young, founder of Carve, notes that employers increasingly expect staff to integrate AI into their daily workflows, signaling a professional evolution rather than a complete replacement.
