AI Used as Weapon in Cyber Warfare
Enginsight CEO Mario Jandeck discusses the dual role of Artificial Intelligence in cybersecurity. While AI currently aids attackers more, its potential in threat detection is growing.

Mario Jandeck, founder and CEO of Enginsight, has outlined the escalating role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a tool in cyber warfare, noting that it currently benefits attackers more than defenders.
According to Jandeck, AI, particularly large language models (LLMs), enables the automation of sophisticated and personalized phishing attacks. It also facilitates the creation of realistic deepfakes, which are increasingly difficult to distinguish from authentic content. "Currently, AI primarily helps the 'bad guys'," Jandeck stated, adding that defenders are lagging behind in leveraging these technologies.
However, on the defense side, AI is already proving valuable in early threat detection. It assists in analyzing network data and monitoring behavioral patterns to identify anomalies swiftly. Behavioral analysis creates profiles of normal user and system activities, allowing AI to trigger alarms or initiate countermeasures when deviations occur.
LLMs can enhance the work of cybersecurity analysts by summarizing and presenting information from various sources, speeding up decision-making and improving the efficiency of security operations.
A significant challenge remains in training AI models to understand the complex relationships between different data sources. Companies must also ensure sufficient data quality and quantity for effective model training, considering the resources required for storing and processing large datasets.
