AI voice firm ElevenLabs expands operations in India

AI voice technology company ElevenLabs has established a larger presence in Asia with the opening of a new office in Singapore. This move follows recent funding rounds that significantly boosted the company's valuation.

ElevenLabs is now prioritizing the Indian market, viewing its linguistic diversity as a key testbed for AI development. CEO Mati Staniszewski believes that mastering "how people interact with AI" in India, with its 22 official languages and thousands of dialects, will enable the company to "solve it anywhere in the world." The company reportedly plans to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in the country.

India already represents ElevenLabs' largest market outside the United States. The firm intends to broaden its language support from the current 14 Indian languages to all 22 officially recognized languages, with ambitions to further encompass the nation's numerous dialects. Karthik Rajaram, ElevenLabs' India head, highlighted these objectives.

With over 250 enterprise clients, ElevenLabs has secured a significant market position. Developers have noted the company's consistent performance, particularly with Indic languages, compared to competitors like Sarvam and Gnani.ai. The latest v4 model is expected to further solidify this advantage.
