4 November 2026

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has raised $83.5 million in new commitments for its Project Preparation Special Fund. The additional funding brings the total value of the fund to approximately $213 million, supporting efforts to increase the quality and bankability of regional infrastructure projects.

Established in 2016, the fund provides resources for project design, technical knowledge exchange, and capacity building. As of September 2026, the fund had approved $110 million for 45 projects across 13 member states. The initiative aims to help developing member countries integrate climate resilience and sustainability into their development strategies.

AIIB stated that the move represents a collaborative effort among shareholders to improve project readiness. The bank plans to solicit further contributions leading up to its 2027 annual meeting in Azerbaijan as it looks to scale its infrastructure financing operations.
