Travel platform Airbnb has published content aimed at encouraging families to explore the historical aspects of U.S. national parks. The feature emphasizes national parks as an interactive learning experience about the nation's past.
The guide highlights several parks, including Yellowstone National Park, noting its history of human habitation spanning over 11,000 years, in addition to its well-known geysers. It mentions that the park contains more than 1,800 archaeological sites and was established as the first national park in 1872.
Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado is featured for its ancient cliff dwellings built by ancestral Pueblo people. Some structures date back over 800 years, and the site was the first archaeological location globally to receive federal protection.
Arches National Park in Utah is presented for its natural arches and petroglyphs from the ancient Ute and Pueblo peoples. Airbnb also suggests the parks' Junior Ranger programs as a way to engage children in historical exploration.
