Airbus A350-1000ULR Completes Over 24-Hour Development Test Flight

Airbus' A350-1000ULR ultra-long-range aircraft has successfully completed a development flight test lasting more than 24 hours. The test flight, code-named MSN707, flew non-stop from Melbourne, Australia, to Toulouse, France, arriving after 24 hours and 24 minutes of flight time.

The flight was conducted as part of testing for future ultra-long-haul routes, specifically those planned by Qantas under its "Project Sunrise" initiative. The goal was to validate the aircraft's performance and endurance for routes exceeding 20 hours of continuous flight.

The journey covered approximately 12,460 nautical miles across the North Atlantic, passing over the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. This test demonstrated the A350-1000ULR's capability to meet the demanding operational requirements of ultra-long-haul flights, including providing sufficient continuous flight time to accommodate potential schedules.

This extensive test flight experienced two sunrises and two sunsets, highlighting the duration and geographical span of the operation. Such rigorous testing is crucial for certifying new aircraft for extreme operational conditions and ensuring passenger comfort and safety on record-breaking routes.
