Airlines Gather in Iceland to Define Future of Passenger Disruption Management
Over 120 airline leaders from 50 carriers will convene in Reykjavik on September 2–3 to discuss evolving strategies for managing passenger disruptions in the aviation industry.
More than 120 senior airline leaders representing over 50 airlines are set to gather in Reykjavík, Iceland, from September 2–3 for Grounded 2026. The summit focuses on the future of passenger disruption management, which has become a strategic priority amid geopolitical instability, severe weather, and evolving passenger expectations.
The conference provides a confidential forum for airlines to share experiences and solutions for managing operational disruptions, free from commercial sales pitches. This year's theme, "The Next Chapter: Defining the Future of Passenger Disruption Management," acknowledges the shift from reactive responses to proactive planning for the challenges of the next decade.
Industry leaders will discuss the impact of artificial intelligence, explore new operating models, and examine the role of technology and organizational change in future disruption management. Discussions and workshops will be documented for a comprehensive report delivered exclusively to participating airlines.
"The challenges facing airlines today are bigger than any one carrier can solve alone," said Sveinn Akerlie, CEO of AviLabs and Co-creator of Grounded. "Considering the external pressures and the technological advances, there has never been a more important time to bring together the people responsible for disruption to ask a simple question: how do we do IROPS better?"
