Akash Network to migrate infrastructure to Solana blockchain

San Francisco-based Akash, a subsidiary of Overclock Labs, has announced plans to migrate its infrastructure to the Solana blockchain. The decision follows a governance vote in which 97% of participating token holders approved the transition.

Over the next 24 months, the company will move its core services—including Akash Marketplace, AkashML, and Akash Homenode—to operate natively on Solana. This move marks the company's departure from the Cosmos ecosystem, which has historically powered its network.

Akash executives cited Solana’s lower transaction costs and its established liquidity as primary drivers for the switch. The company plans to facilitate the transition for current token holders, allowing them to swap their existing AKT holdings for SPL AKT tokens at a 1:1 ratio via a dedicated portal.
