Akko Launches New U1 Switch Series, Debuts Creamy Yellow U1

Akko, a company specializing in keyboard components, has rolled out its new U1 series of mechanical keyboard switches. The new series is built upon material innovations and structural improvements, aiming to deliver a premium typing experience ahead of the brand's 10th anniversary.

The U1 series features a newly developed POM composite material designed to enhance smoothness and stability. Akko states this material retains POM's self-lubricating properties while improving wear resistance and consistency, contributing to a clearer sound profile. The switches incorporate a redesigned stem and an optimized rail structure for a more focused and deeper sound, often described as 'thock,' alongside reduced contact surface area.

The Creamy Yellow U1, the inaugural model, includes specific internal structural enhancements. It reportedly combines sonic characteristics from previous Akko switch versions to cater to diverse user preferences. The design aims for stable performance across various keyboard builds, making it accessible for users new to custom keyboards. Furthermore, an integrated light guide pillar is included to minimize light loss, ensuring brighter and more uniform RGB lighting effects.

Other models in the U1 series include the Creamy Purple U1, which focuses on tactile feedback clarity, the Piano U1 for linear switch enthusiasts seeking enhanced smoothness, and the Crystal Silver U1, engineered for rapid actuation in gaming. Akko plans to integrate the U1 switches into its upcoming keyboard models, such as the 5075 V5.

The U1 series switches are available through Akko's global sales channels. The company also indicated plans to introduce more quiet-key switches and integrate U1 switches into broader product lines.
