Aktion Deutschland Hilft reports donation growth against market trend
German aid alliance Aktion Deutschland Hilft saw a 15 percent increase in donations for 2025, reaching 83.2 million euros despite a broader market decline.

The aid alliance Aktion Deutschland Hilft reported a total of 83.2 million euros in donations for 2025, marking a 15 percent increase compared to the previous year. This growth diverges from the broader German charitable giving market, which recorded a nine percent decrease during the same period.
The alliance gained 33,000 new donors, bringing the total to 295,000. With an average donation of 109 euros, the organization outperformed the market average of 46 euros. The funding supported 22 member organizations in delivering aid to 72 million people across 93 countries.
Support for Ukraine remained the primary focus, receiving 14.8 million euros, followed by 10.5 million euros for earthquake relief in Myanmar and 3.9 million euros for aid in the Middle East. CEO Maria Rüther attributed the success to continued private commitment during a period when institutional funding for humanitarian aid is being reduced.
Looking ahead, the alliance continues to manage 836 humanitarian projects. Despite the positive financial results, the organization highlighted that the overall climate for humanitarian work remains challenging due to the combination of ongoing global conflicts, natural disasters, and the escalating impact of climate change.
