Åland Post to be Matkahuolto's transport partner in Åland
Matkahuolto is expanding its logistics services in Åland by partnering with Åland Post. The cooperation begins in October 2026.
Matkahuolto has appointed Åland Post as its new transport partner in the Åland Islands. The agreement is set to take effect on October 1, 2026.
This new partnership will expand Matkahuolto's network for parcel, freight, and pallet transport services within Åland. Åland Post will be responsible for handling Matkahuolto's shipments in the archipelago and between Åland and mainland Finland. This will provide consumers and businesses in Åland with a wider range of transport options and an enhanced network of pickup points.
Åland Post will leverage this collaboration to strengthen its own parcel and logistics service offerings. The company's post offices, service points, and parcel lockers will become integrated into Matkahuolto's nationwide network. Matkahuolto is Finland's second-largest parcel carrier, boasting an extensive network of automated lockers and service points across the country.
The collaboration aims to improve the accessibility of services for both Åland and the rest of Finland. It also offers e-commerce merchants and business clients a more comprehensive logistics solution in both directions.
Johan Sundblom, CEO of Åland Post, stated that the cooperation is a natural progression from a previously successful partnership and will provide more choices for Åland customers. Kati Nevalainen, Head of Matkahuolto's parcel services, highlighted the importance of Åland to the company and the benefits the partnership brings to customers throughout Finland.
