Alaska Gear Company Adds Ankle Deck Boot to Footwear Line

Alaska Gear Company (AKGC) is expanding its footwear offerings with the introduction of the Ankle Deck Boot VBX. This new ankle-height boot incorporates AKGC's proprietary Vapor Barrier X (VBX) technology, a sealed waterproof insulation system designed to keep feet warm and dry in challenging conditions.

The VBX technology draws from the principles of early insulated boots developed for military use in cold, wet environments. It features an external rubber shell to block water and snow, combined with a wool insulation layer to retain heat. Lab testing indicates the boot can withstand temperatures as low as -45°F (-43°C), positioning it as a highly capable option for cold and wet weather. The Ankle Deck Boot VBX is designed for three-season use (fall, winter, spring) and offers a lower-profile alternative to the company's deeper winter Bunny Boot MAX.

Beyond its insulation, the Ankle Deck Boot VBX includes a fleece lining for comfort and a cold-resistant rubber outsole with siping to enhance grip and channel water away. This design aims to provide reliable protection for work environments such as docks, as well as suitable performance for everyday wear during colder months.

Alaska Gear Company, known for its Bunny Boot, is based in Alaska and is extending its distribution reach to the continental United States and Canada. The company also plans to release new models and colorways for its other winter footwear lines.
