Alfa Laval to Acquire Maritime Software Firm NAVTOR for $700 Million
Swedish engineering company Alfa Laval has signed a definitive agreement to purchase NAVTOR AS in an all-cash deal valued at approximately $700 million.
Alfa Laval announced on November 6, 2026, that it has reached an agreement to acquire NAVTOR AS, a Norway-based developer of maritime software, for 700 million USD (6.85 billion SEK). The transaction is funded entirely in cash.
NAVTOR specializes in digital navigation tools, vessel performance analytics, and integrated onboard software systems. By integrating these capabilities, Alfa Laval seeks to expand its digital service offerings within the maritime sector, specifically targeting the industry's shift toward digitalization and improved operational efficiency.
The acquisition reflects a broader trend among industrial engineering firms to move beyond hardware components toward data-driven maritime solutions. This shift addresses increasing market demand for software that optimizes fuel consumption and assists with regulatory compliance in global shipping.
