Alibaba plans AI music creation platform HappyShrimp
Alibaba's ATH business group is reportedly developing an AI music creation platform named HappyShrimp, which may allow users to generate music from text prompts. The platform is expected to offer various music production tools.

Chinese technology giant Alibaba is reportedly developing a new artificial intelligence-powered platform for music creation, expected to be named HappyShrimp. According to industry sources, Alibaba's ATH business group is behind the initiative, which aims to allow users to generate music through text prompts.
The platform, reportedly referred to in Chinese as "Happy Shrimp," is anticipated to offer a range of features for music creation. These are said to include generating music from text, creating lyrics, producing audio based on reference materials, and audio style transfer. The target audience includes musicians, producers, researchers, as well as content creators and filmmakers.
HappyShrimp is expected to provide AI-assisted music generation, encompassing melody, arrangement, and vocal performance. It may also offer services for custom background music, sound effect generation, and music style migration, supporting digital music production. Alibaba previously acquired Xiami Music in 2013, which merged into Ali Music and was later discontinued in 2021.
The platform is not yet available to the public, and its specific functions and operational details are subject to official announcements. There are indications that HappyShrimp might be launched as a mobile application and potentially in overseas markets.
