Alibaba T-Head chip production expected this year
Alibaba anticipates its second-generation T-Head chip will begin tape-out and production in the second half of this year. The chip is designed for enhanced computing performance and interconnect bandwidth.

Alibaba expects its second-generation T-Head chip to enter production in the latter half of this year, according to CEO Eddie Wu on August 20. The chip is engineered to deliver stronger computing performance and increased interconnect bandwidth.
The company stated the chip will be capable of supporting large-model training workloads, a key requirement for advancing artificial intelligence applications. This development aligns with the growing demand for specialized hardware in AI.
An Alibaba Cloud supernode utilizing the Zhenwu M890 chip has already commenced scaled sales. The T-Head unit has developed a comprehensive chip portfolio, encompassing GPUs, CPUs, and networking chips.
By early August, the Zhenwu product line had served over 650 customers. These advancements underscore Alibaba's expanding investment in the semiconductor industry and its strategic positioning in AI infrastructure.
