Alibaba unveils RISC-V automotive processor roadmap
Alibaba DAMO Academy has introduced the XuanTie E908A processor IP and detailed its strategic roadmap for autonomous driving and robotics hardware.

At the RISC-V China Summit in Shenzhen, Alibaba's DAMO Academy debuted the XuanTie E908A, a processor intellectual property designed for safety-critical automotive applications. The component supports ASIL-B and ASIL-D functional safety standards, making it suitable for domain controllers and vehicle gateways.
Alongside the launch, the company outlined its development roadmap for autonomous driving and robotics. Central to this strategy is the C950A processor, slated for release by the end of 2027. Alibaba aims to deliver a fivefold increase in performance compared to current RISC-V automotive offerings, positioning itself to compete in the high-performance computing market.
DAMO Academy reported that cumulative shipments of chips utilizing XuanTie technology have surpassed 6 billion units. This expansion into automotive computing represents a significant shift for the firm as it pivots from general-purpose applications to specialized, high-demand hardware markets.
