Alibaba Unveils Zhenwu V900 AI Chip, Targets Data Center Expansion
Alibaba's T-Head semiconductor unit has launched the new Zhenwu V900 AI chip. The company also aims to operate over 20 gigawatts of data center capacity by 2032 to support its AI strategy.
Alibaba's semiconductor arm, T-Head, has introduced its latest AI chip, the Zhenwu V900. The company reports that the new chip offers three times the computing performance of its predecessor, the Zhenwu M890.
During the Yunqi Conference, Alibaba CEO Wu Yongming outlined the company's AI strategy, which is centered on three core components: models, chips, and cloud infrastructure. The Zhenwu V900 is positioned to enhance the performance of Alibaba's AI services.
The company's cloud division, Alibaba Cloud, intends to expand its global data center capacity to over 20 gigawatts by 2032. This expansion represents a significant investment in AI infrastructure, aimed at supporting both the new chips and advanced AI models.
T-Head anticipates a substantial increase in its annual AI chip shipments in the coming years. The Zhenwu V900 chip is expected to be a key driver in achieving this growth, enabling more powerful AI solutions.
