Laval, Québec – Alimentation Couche-Tard has entered into an agreement to acquire a controlling interest in Żabka Group, a Polish convenience store and digital retail platform. This transaction represents Couche-Tard's largest acquisition in its history and establishes a significant presence in Central and Eastern Europe.
The agreement also includes the launch of a voluntary tender offer by Couche-Tard for the remaining shares of Żabka Group. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed, but the acquisition is expected to mark a substantial expansion for Couche-Tard's European operations.
Żabka Group is recognized as one of Europe's rapidly growing retail networks, with a strong focus on proximity stores and digital services. The acquisition is anticipated to unlock considerable growth potential for Couche-Tard in this key region.
The deal is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Couche-Tard anticipates the acquisition will further solidify its global position and generate synergies with its existing business segments.
