Alipay, the Chinese online payment giant, has announced that its "Tap Pay" feature has now exceeded 400 million users. The company also reported that the number of its partner ecosystem participants has grown to over 2,300.
The "Tap Pay" service, first introduced in June 2024, enables users to complete transactions by touching their phone to a payment terminal without the need to open the Alipay app. This aims to streamline the payment process for both consumers and merchants.
To date, the service has been deployed across more than 30 million offline locations. Alipay plans to accelerate its technological and product innovation, exploring new application scenarios to enhance user experience. By 2026, the company intends to focus on opening up its Agent service network to upgrade these offline points with AI capabilities.
Alipay, operated by Ant Group, is a leading digital payment platform and lifestyle super app in China, offering a wide range of services beyond payments, including financial services and lifestyle conveniences.
