Aliplast acquires majority stake in Polish plastics recycling firm

Aliplast, a company within the Hera Group specializing in plastic recycling, has entered into a binding agreement to acquire 70% of Kronos Polymer Polska. The new company is established through a spin-off of the polyethylene (PE) recycling and processing operations of the Polish firm Kronos Polymer.

The newly constructed industrial site of Kronos Polymer is located in Gniew, Poland, approximately 300 kilometers from Aliplast Polska's facility in Tuszyn. The acquired business includes a complete production line for sorting, grinding, and washing polyethylene, with an installed annual capacity of 12,000 tons. This acquisition will further Aliplast's local presence and optimize logistics within the Polish market.

Combined with ongoing projects in Italy, this move could double Aliplast's total recycling capacity to over 210,000 tons per year. The company aims to increase production capacity, enhance the quality and traceability of recycled materials, and meet the growing European demand for recycled plastics. These efforts align with the EU's new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which promotes a circular economy.

Michele Petrone, CEO of Aliplast, stated that the transaction reinforces the Hera Group's strategy of focusing on resource recovery. The growing demand in the Polish market and Aliplast's established presence in the country make this acquisition strategically significant. The deal is expected to be finalized by the end of 2026, subject to customary conditions, including the completion of the corporate spin-off.
