Alphabet's Wing to invest $125 million in Texas drone manufacturing facility

Alphabet-owned Wing is building a new $125 million drone factory in Fort Worth to support Walmart’s 270-store delivery expansion plan by 2027.

7 November 2026

Alphabet subsidiary Wing has announced plans to invest up to $125 million over the next two years to build and operate a drone production facility in Fort Worth, Texas. The 15,000-square-foot plant is projected to create 100 manufacturing jobs and will be capable of producing tens of thousands of drones annually.

The investment aims to localize the production of Wing’s next-generation delivery drones. This infrastructure expansion is intended to support Walmart’s target of extending drone delivery services to more than 270 stores by 2027. Wing currently operates at 19 Walmart locations across the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.

The U.S. drone delivery sector is experiencing heightened competition. Rival delivery firm Zipline recently secured $1.5 billion in funding and announced a separate agreement with Walmart to add 300 additional distribution sites, signaling an aggressive push to capture market share.

Wing reports having completed over one million deliveries this year across 70 locations. The company expects its service area to reach 40 million users across nearly 20 metropolitan regions by 2027.
