Alstom acquires Reuschling to expand shunting locomotive services

Alstom finalized the acquisition of Reuschling GmbH & Co. KG, based in Hattingen, Germany, on February 1, 2024. The company, which employs approximately 120 people, will operate under the name Alstom Reuschling Service GmbH & Co. KG as a subsidiary of Alstom Lokomotiven Service GmbH.

Reuschling focuses on the maintenance and repair of shunting locomotives, as well as fleet modernization. The acquisition provides Alstom with specialized engineering capabilities in areas such as alternative traction systems for shunting, remote-controlled vehicle operation, and digital automatic coupling technology.

François Muller, head of services for the DACH region at Alstom, stated that the acquisition was driven by Reuschling's technical expertise and its strategic location near key European rail corridors. This move integrates with Alstom's existing German service facilities in Stendal and Waibstadt, expanding the company’s footprint in the shunting locomotive market.
