Alstom appoints Martin Sion as CEO effective April 2026

Alstom has announced the appointment of Martin Sion as its new Chief Executive Officer, following a recommendation from the board’s Nominations and Remuneration Committee. Sion is scheduled to assume the role on April 1, 2026.

He succeeds Henri Poupart-Lafarge, who has served as CEO since February 2016. Poupart-Lafarge announced his decision to step down earlier this year, though he will remain in the position until next April to facilitate a transition period for the incoming leadership.

Sion arrives at Alstom after serving as CEO of ArianeGroup, a position he has held since 2023. His professional background includes extensive experience in the aerospace and defense sectors, including various senior leadership roles within the Safran Group. Board Chairman Philippe Petitcolin confirmed that the decision followed a multi-month search process.

Alstom remains focused on navigating the competitive global transit market. Details regarding the incoming CEO’s remuneration package are currently available through the company’s corporate governance documentation online.
