Alstom Aventra Trains Mark One Year of Service in UK
Alstom's Aventra train fleet has completed its first year of operation for London Northwestern Railway, introducing increased capacity and customer satisfaction on routes to and from London.

Millions of London Northwestern Railway (LNR) passengers have travelled on Alstom's newest UK train fleet during its first year in service. The first Aventra Class 730/2 electric train entered service on June 9, 2025, on routes to and from London Euston, changing the travel experience from the station.
The fleet, built at Alstom’s historic Derby Litchurch Lane Works, comprises 36 five-carriage trains, totaling 180 carriages. This has increased capacity on LNR's routes to and from London Euston by 20%. The fleet was gradually introduced on the route between Northampton and London Euston starting in June 2025, before extending to the Trent Valley Line (Crewe to Euston) in December 2025.
One year on, the rollout is complete and has resulted in a 20% increase in customer satisfaction on LNR’s busy Trent Valley Line services, and a 10% increase on the route towards Northampton. Passengers have specifically praised the trains' spacious interiors.
Alstom has produced 2,660 Aventra electric multiple unit cars at its Derby factory for UK customers since 2015, making it the largest train manufacturing program in a generation. The Derby facility, celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, is the UK's sole facility capable of designing, engineering, manufacturing, and testing trains from scratch for both domestic and export markets.
