Alstom awarded contract for Quito Metro signalling system maintenance

Alstom has signed a contract valued at $27 million to provide maintenance for the signalling system of Line 1 of the Quito Metro in Ecuador. The agreement spans 48 months and includes preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as obsolescence management and potential upgrades.

Alstom, which previously designed and implemented the CITYFLO 350 signalling system for the line, is now deepening its engagement with the Ecuadorian capital's public transport. The company will be responsible for frequent inspections, continuous monitoring, and rapid interventions to prevent service disruptions and ensure high levels of safety and reliability.

Bernard Peille, Alstom's Vice President for Latin America, highlighted the contract's significance and the crucial role of signalling systems in urban mobility. "Our commitment is to deliver a service so excellent that no one has to think about it and just knows that they can rely on an efficient, safe, and sustainable railway system," Peille stated.

The project will involve Ecuadorian technical teams, reinforcing Alstom's commitment to job creation and knowledge transfer. This aligns with Alstom's broader strategy in Latin America, where it has extensive experience in maintaining and modernizing signalling systems across multiple countries.
