Alstom Bizkaia Site Receives Brain-Protected Space Certification
Alstom's industrial site in Trápaga, Bizkaia, has been awarded the Brain-Protected Space Certification by Fundación Freno al Ictus. The certification recognizes employees' training in identifying stroke symptoms and emergency response.

Alstom's industrial site in Trápaga, located in Bizkaia, which specializes in manufacturing traction equipment for rolling stock, has received the Brain-Protected Space Certification from Fundación Freno al Ictus. This accreditation reinforces the company's commitment to employee health and safety.
The certification acknowledges that employees at the facility have completed a specific online training program. This training equips them to recognize the warning signs of a stroke and to understand the appropriate response in a medical emergency. Prompt symptom identification and immediate alert to emergency services are crucial for improving patient outcomes.
Iñaki Rojo, General Manager of Alstom's Trápaga site, stated, "This certification demonstrates that, in Trápaga, we aim not only to be an industrial benchmark, but also an environment that is prepared to protect the health of our teams." He emphasized the company's dedication to providing safe and healthy workplaces.
Julio Agredano, President of Fundación Freno al Ictus, highlighted that stroke can affect one in four individuals during their lifetime, making rapid intervention vital to reduce mortality and long-term effects. Each trained employee represents an increased opportunity for timely symptom recognition and activation of the correct response.
In Spain, over 120,000 people are affected by stroke annually, making it a leading cause of acquired disability in adults and a primary cause of death among women. Alstom's collaboration with the foundation began in 2019 with the "Alstom Against Stroke" campaign and has since expanded through various awareness and training initiatives. Several other Alstom sites have also been certified as Brain-Protected Spaces.
