Alstom delivers automated people mover system for Kuala Lumpur Airport
Alstom has delivered three new Innovia APM R trainsets to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The system is scheduled to commence revenue service on July 1.

Mobility solutions provider Alstom has delivered three new Innovia APM R vehicle sets to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The fully driverless trains are set to begin operating within the airport's internal transport system on July 1, 2025.
The system is intended to enhance the passenger experience at one of Southeast Asia's major transit hubs. Each trainset has a capacity of up to 270 passengers. The trains will operate using the newly upgraded Urbalis Flo signaling solution, a Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) system designed for faster and more efficient driverless journeys.
Alstom has previously supplied over 30 similar fully automated people mover systems to airports worldwide. The company stated that the trains underwent rigorous testing by Malaysia's Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) throughout the first half of 2025.
The new system is part of KLIA's initiative to strengthen its position as a leading global airport. According to Alstom, the Innovia APM systems are designed for reliability and operational cost reduction, incorporating advanced condition monitoring for fault prevention.
