Alstom expands Kazakhstan service capabilities with EUR 50 million investment
Rail company Alstom is investing EUR 50 million to enhance its service capabilities in Kazakhstan. The program aims to bolster the country's role as a transport hub connecting Asia and Europe.

Alstom is advancing its EUR 50 million investment program in Kazakhstan, aiming to expand its service capabilities and strengthen maintenance operations across the country. The initiative is designed to reinforce Kazakhstan's position as a pivotal transport hub linking Asia and Europe.
The investment will see Alstom expand its service centers in key locations including Astana, Shu, Almaty, and Arys. This expansion is expected to create approximately 700 jobs and enhance the efficiency of rail services, supporting the performance of critical rail corridors such as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
A significant part of the program involves upgrading the electric locomotive service center in Almaty. This project, part of an investment agreement with the Kazakh government signed in 2023, is scheduled for completion in 2027. Upon completion, the facility will provide maintenance for 95 passenger locomotives and over 400 freight locomotives.
Alstom has been operating in Kazakhstan since 2010 and currently employs over 1,300 people. The company is the sole manufacturer of electric locomotives in Central Asia and the Caucasus region, operating seven industrial sites across four cities.
The investment is also intended to improve fleet availability and support reliable rail operations throughout Kazakhstan, contributing to the broader modernization of the country's railway sector.
