Alstom expands maintenance expertise in Motala, Sweden; signs Alpha Trains contract

Alstom is expanding its operations in Motala, Sweden, by establishing a dedicated center of expertise for comprehensive maintenance of its Traxx Universal locomotives. This new facility consolidates the company's maintenance capabilities, encompassing routine servicing, major repairs, wheelset and bogie work, and signalling systems.

The center aims to meet the growing demand for complete maintenance solutions from both Nordic countries and other European regions. Concurrently, Alstom has finalized an eight-year full-service agreement with Alpha Trains, a European leasing company, covering ten Traxx Universal locomotives. This contract represents Alstom's first locomotive maintenance service agreement in Sweden.

The agreement includes preventive and corrective maintenance at the Motala workshop. It also provides support from a mobile team for on-site repairs and a technical assistance hotline for drivers, ensuring maximum availability for the locomotives.

The Motala site has been equipped with both traditional and advanced technologies. As part of this expansion, Alstom is investing in a new wheel press for locomotive wheelset maintenance and upgrading the bogie line. The company stated that this investment strengthens both local industry and the broader European rail sector.
