Alstom Foundation Funds Reforestation Project in Spain

The Alstom Foundation, in partnership with the Reforesta Association, is initiating a reforestation project across two key areas in Spain: the Montseny Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve in Catalonia, and the municipality of Pezuela de Las Torres in Madrid.

The initiative will involve planting approximately 500 native trees and shrubs. Specifically, in Montseny, a seed orchard of 102 native chestnut trees will be established to support biodiversity within the park. In Pezuela de Las Torres, 440 trees and shrubs from 14 different species will be planted to enhance ecological connectivity and aid pollinators.

The Alstom Foundation will provide funding for the project and organize related activities, including awareness workshops and corporate volunteering events. Reforesta will also engage employees from particularly vulnerable situations for the project's execution. In Catalonia, the project will collaborate with Fundació Acció Baix Montseny, an organization that promotes employment for individuals with disabilities.

Founded in 2007, the Alstom Foundation supports projects proposed by Alstom employees and developed with local NGOs, focusing on improving living conditions through environmental protection, mobility, energy and water access, and socioeconomic development. The Foundation is financing 33 projects for the 2024/2025 period. Reforesta, a non-profit association established in 1991, has planted and cared for over 77,000 trees and shrubs to restore forest biodiversity and combat desertification.
