Alstom Helps Bring First Refurbished Class 376 Train into UK Passenger Service
Alstom has brought the first fully refurbished Class 376 train into passenger service in the UK. The upgrades include improved interiors and new charging facilities.

Alstom, in collaboration with Southeastern and Eversholt Rail, has returned the first fully refurbished Class 376 Electrostar train to passenger service in the United Kingdom. The train underwent extensive interior and exterior upgrades aimed at enhancing the passenger experience on Southeastern's busy Metro routes connecting North Kent and South East London.
Under the project, Alstom is responsible for the engineering and supply of all materials for the refurbishment of all 36 train units. Enhancements include renewed seating, at-seat power and USB sockets for charging devices, and updated LED lighting throughout to create a more modern environment.
Upon completion of the program across all 36 trains, the project will have delivered 11,000 refurbished seats, over 4,000 power sockets, and the installation of approximately 29,000 panels and fittings. Each train will also receive a new blue livery.
Steve Harvey, Alstom Services Director UK and Ireland, stated that the refurbishment of the first Class 376 train is a significant achievement that will benefit passengers across South East London and Kent. The new amenities, such as the at-seat charging points, are intended to improve the overall travel experience.
