Alstom-led consortium to modernize Egypt's rail corridors for €690 million
Alstom has signed four contracts worth €690 million with Egyptian National Railways to upgrade strategic rail lines. The projects aim to enhance the country's logistics efficiency and freight flows.

Alstom, leading a consortium with Rowad Modern Engineering and Concrete Plus, has signed four significant contracts with Egyptian National Railways (ENR) totaling approximately €690 million. These agreements are set to modernize key rail corridors, specifically the 6th of October–Alexandria corridor and the Belbes–10th of Ramadan (B10) line.
The overarching goal of these projects is to bolster Egypt's logistics capabilities and improve freight movement. They aim to strengthen connectivity between newly developed dry ports, industrial zones, and major maritime hubs, aligning with the Egypt Vision 2030 national strategy. Alstom's share of the contract value is estimated at around €300 million.
The 6th of October–Alexandria corridor upgrade, valued at €550 million with Alstom's share at approximately €240 million, will incorporate next-generation digital railway systems, enhanced telecommunications, and upgraded power supplies. These improvements are expected to increase safety, boost capacity, and reduce travel time on the route by nearly 80 minutes.
The Belbes–10th of Ramadan (B10) project, valued at approximately €140 million (Alstom's share around €60 million), will implement similar advanced railway technologies and modernization efforts. This initiative is designed to improve access to and from one of Egypt’s largest industrial centers, thereby supporting industrial growth along the eastern logistics corridor.
