Alstom partners with Université de Sherbrooke, pledges $250,000

The agreement includes a $250,000 CAD donation from Alstom to the university, spread across various initiatives to foster innovation and talent development.

The partnership aims to bolster Alstom's recruitment efforts and enhance its access to cutting-edge research and development, aligning with its corporate social responsibility goals. The funds will support projects across the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Law, and Faculty of Humanities, as well as student-led activities and research.

Specific initiatives benefiting from the donation include the Climatoscope project, which focuses on disseminating climate science to a broad audience, particularly youth. The funding will also support design projects, student competitions like "Createk", lecture series, and a mentoring program. Furthermore, Alstom aims to attract more students to engineering and law careers, with a focus on encouraging women through the "Génie au féminin" scholarship.

Alstom emphasizes the need for specialized expertise in the rail mobility sector, highlighting the critical role of universities like Sherbrooke in training future professionals. The company employs over 1,000 engineers in Canada, many based in Quebec. The university's graduates already hold significant positions within Alstom, underscoring the effectiveness of this educational pipeline.
