Alstom presents new locomotive solutions at logistics trade fair
Alstom is showcasing new locomotive solutions at the transport logistic trade fair in Munich, focusing on its Traxx locomotives and advanced service portfolio.

Alstom, a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, is presenting its extensive locomotive portfolio at the transport logistic trade fair in Munich from June 2-5, 2025. The established Traxx locomotive range is central to the company's presence at this international trade fair for logistics and mobility.
The Traxx locomotive portfolio reportedly covers all requirements, from shunting and versatile traffic to heavy freight operations. The Traxx Universal multi-purpose locomotive, equipped with Alstom's Onvia Cab signaling system, is expanding its reach across Europe. Recent orders for over 340 of these advanced locomotives underscore market demand for flexible and efficient solutions.
A significant focus is also placed on Alstom's comprehensive service portfolio, which includes the industry's broadest maintenance network in Europe with over 50 depots. HealthHub, Alstom's predictive maintenance and fleet management solution, continuously monitors the condition of rail vehicles to maximize reliability and availability while optimizing lifecycle costs. By capturing standard and smart data and utilizing advanced AI-based algorithms, the system aims to prevent failures before they occur, potentially reducing downtime and recurring errors by up to 50%.
Alstom is also highlighting its "Green Re-Tractioning" advancements. The company is developing a plug-and-play solution using a hydrogen internal combustion engine (H2 ICE) to retrofit diesel shunters for hydrogen propulsion. This conversion is expected to eliminate CO2 emissions from the locomotive, saving up to 3,000 tons of CO2 over its remaining 15-20 year lifespan. A prototype is scheduled for testing this summer.
