Alstom Presents Production Line for New TGV M High-Speed Train

French rolling stock manufacturer Alstom has revealed the production line for its new TGV M high-speed train at its workshops in La Rochelle. The unveiling was attended by executives from Alstom and SNCF Voyageurs.

The TGV M, developed in collaboration with SNCF Voyageurs, is scheduled to begin operating on France's national network in 2024. The order includes 115 train units, with 100 designated for domestic services and 15 for international routes.

According to Alstom, the new train offers significant advancements over current TGV models. It features a 20% increase in onboard space, potentially accommodating up to 740 passengers compared to the current maximum of 634. The train's energy efficiency has also been enhanced, boasting the lowest carbon footprint per passenger on the market. The TGV M is designed for 97% recyclability and achieves a 32% reduction in CO2 emissions.

The train's modular design allows for flexible cabin configurations, including adjustable car counts and easy conversion between first and second-class seating. It will also offer improved connectivity, such as onboard Wi-Fi, and real-time passenger information systems. Integrated sensor technology enables continuous monitoring of the train's condition for optimized maintenance and availability.
