Alstom Recognized for Innovation in Transportation

Alstom, a manufacturer of rail transport solutions, has been included in Fast Company's annual list of the Most Innovative Companies for 2024. The company was recognized for its contributions to developing low-carbon transportation, particularly for introducing the first commercial hydrogen-powered train service in North America.

This recognition highlights Alstom's engineering capabilities and its commitment to advancing green mobility. Michael Keroullé, President of Alstom Americas, stated that the award reflects the company's global investments aimed at accelerating the transition to a low-carbon future and the work of its U.S. and Canadian teams in achieving this.

With only about 1% of North America's rail network currently electrified, there is a significant need for alternative green traction solutions to meet climate goals. Alstom offers various options, including diesel-battery hybrid trains, battery-powered trains, and hydrogen-powered trains. The company conducted its demonstration of hydrogen train technology in real operating conditions in North America to showcase its benefits, such as zero emissions from the propulsion system, quieter operation, and longer operational range compared to battery-powered trains.

Fast Company's list is compiled annually by evaluating thousands of submissions. The publication aims to identify companies that are driving progress across various industries and shaping culture through their innovations globally.
