Transportation manufacturer Alstom has released its financial results for the fiscal year 2017/18, reporting sales of 8 billion euros, a 9% increase compared to the previous year. During the period from April 1, 2017, to March 31, 2018, the company secured orders totaling 7.2 billion euros.

The adjusted operating income (EBIT) rose to 514 million euros, a 22% increase from the prior year, resulting in an adjusted EBIT margin of 6.5%. The net income attributable to the group was 475 million euros, up from 289 million euros the previous year. Alstom maintained a strong balance sheet, with free cash flow reaching 128 million euros and net debt remaining stable at 255 million euros.

Alstom announced it will propose a dividend of 0.35 euros per share at its upcoming Shareholders Meeting on July 17, 2018. This represents a 40% increase from the previous year's dividend. CEO Henri Poupart-Lafarge stated that the results underscore the success of the "Alstom 2020" strategy.

Throughout the fiscal year, the company signed various contracts globally. These included orders for trains and maintenance services in Canada, Italy, Senegal, Germany, and France, as well as metro system projects in Vietnam and the Philippines. The company's backlog of orders stood at 34.2 billion euros as of March 31, 2018, providing significant visibility for future sales.
